The observatory
Ale's stenar has, just like Stonehenge, a rather flat horizon on all sides, making it ideal for observing the position of the sun and the moon when they rise and set.
Standing inside the 'ship' one sees how the top of the stones follows the horizon, making it possible to follow the sun- and moon-risings and settings thru the year.
